Dr Carsten Nicolaus, MD, PhD

Specialist in Lyme and Chief Medical Advisor, MakeWell

Dr. Carsten Nicolaus is a globally recognised expert in Lyme and tick-borne diseases, renowned for his groundbreaking research, diagnostics, and treatment methodologies. With over three decades of experience, he has dedicated his career to advancing the understanding and management of these complex conditions. Since 1990, he has advised over 25,000 Lyme patients from more than 80 countries and has trained and mentored over 1,500 doctors since 2006.

After establishing his GP practice in a Lyme-endemic area, Dr. Nicolaus recognised the limitations of conventional treatment and embarked on a mission to develop integrative approaches tailored to the needs of chronic Lyme patients. In 2006, he founded the BCA-clinic, Europe's first and largest Lyme clinic, where he pioneered groundbreaking treatment protocols combining conventional medicine with herbal remedies and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Lydia Madrigal Calderon

Senior Scientific Consultant for Nutrition, Education, and Biomedical Research, MakeWell

Lydia Madrigal Calderon, MakeWell’s Senior Scientific Consultant for Nutrition, Education, and Biomedical Research, boasting extensive experience in the field. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, followed by a Master of Science in Biomedicine and Nutrition, both obtained in Munich, Bavaria. Joining MakeWell in 2018, Lydia has been instrumental in enhancing the company's team with her wealth of knowledge and passion for health and nutrition.

Primarily focused on product development, management, and educational initiatives, Lydia collaborates closely with Dr. Carsten Nicolaus, MakeWell’s Chief Medical Officer. Together, they provide intensive training to clinicians on nutrition, and Lyme disease and associated illnesses. Lydia is a key representative advocating for the integration of lifestyle changes alongside conventional treatment programs for patients suffering from Lyme disease and its co-infections. Her contributions play an integral role in MakeWell's product development and quality control efforts.
